Fashion + Decor = Ethnic Flare

It's Friday!!! For some reason this week seemed particularly long. I mean Tuesday felt like it should have been Thursday and Friday seems like it lost its way finding today. In any case, I am glad it's Friday and figured a bit of fashion would be in order.

Every so often I like to show how fashion and decor imitate each other in this lovely game of copycat. Months ago I stumble upon PASHIONALITY, a fashion blog of the gorgeous Patricia De Nascimento; a Brazilian blogger currently living in Switzerland as she shares her passion for fashion art and culture. Her beauty and style sense were are so captivating, I have become a regular visitor of her blog.

It was delightful and I couldn't help but share this fashion + decor match between her August 24th 2012 summer look and the fabulous dining room of Andrea Millar that I came across on The Design Files. This Rozelle home, already beautifully decorated with vintage artwork, sunday school benches and a wonderful Morrocan lantern, makes a huge statement with this beautiful pink and purple ethnic printed rug. An equally grand statement in the eye catching Zara skirt that Patricia is so beautifully rocking!

Once again fashion and decor dance gracefully. Here is to fashion, decor and a fantastic Friday!

BE Bold, BE Funky

Today is my little sister's birthday! She is the very essence of BOLD and FUNKY, but her canvas is her body. She loves fashion and shows it from her head to her toe. I believe that whether your canvas is your body or your home, SHOW IT OFF. When you are working with a limited amount of space you might as well use it to its fullest potential!

Don't be afraid to let your home (or body) be an extension of yourself. Go ahead, wear those bright green cigarette pants you bought last week that has been hiding in your closet ever since; put up that crystal chandelier and paint your entry ways entry way midnight blue! It's all about how the things you surround yourself with make you fell.

I love Fridays... and Saturdays... and Sundays, but especially Fridays! It's my day to hit the local thrift and vintage shops to see what goodies await me. Really!? I can't believe it's Friday already! My days are beginning to blend together. Regardless, Friday is always a good day because it means Friday Fever - 50% off everything at the local Goodwill! It also means two more days until House and Home posts their weekly online episodes!

While doing my weekly online home decor rounds, I came across House and Home's Fall 2012 Runway to Room Trend. I'm beginning to become a lover of these fashion/decor style comparisons. Check out some of their favourite fall fashion trends along side their imitated interiors.

Fashion + Decor

So I just discovered this AMAZING site and I just couldn't keep it to myself! Now I've always seen the relationship between fashion and decor, knowing that it is never a coincidence that the same colours, prints and designs on the racks pop up in home decor stores from season to season; but I was absolutely mesmerized when I saw how my new favourite site, Fashion + Decor, paired the two. Seamlessly marrying gorgeous runway looks with their decor counterparts. I LOVE IT! This is a site you definitely have to check out.

Now I am warning you in advance - all you fashion and decor lovers - countless hours of oohing and aahing will be spend browsing through this site. Ensure that nothing is on the stove or in the oven... I may or may not have burnt a sweet potato while looking through the Balenciaga Fall 2012 and Gary Hutton comparison. *Nervous laugh*

Fall Colour Trend. Not Just for Fashion!

I always find that when September hits not only do the brightly coloured hues of summer fashion leave us for another year, but so does the fresh pops of colour on the home decor front. If you really take note you can see a strong correlation between fashion and home decor. The same colour trends seem to pop in fashion and interior design from season to season. It is like the two are close cousins in a family where intermingling is highly encouraged.

While perusing Pantone's website to get some colour inspiration in preparation of my quarterly home redecoration, I came across Pantone's Fall 2012 Fashion Color Trend Report.

There are a few yummy colours that wouldn't just look great in my closet but in my home. Anyone who knows me know that I love grey, so the featured titanium is a definite favourite. I'm also loving the honey gold, pink flambé and rose smoke. I have no doubt that these will find a way into my 800 sq. ft. in the next couple of weeks!
