Eight Hundred Sq. Ft. Loves Simplicity Sofa

The Megan Collection

A while back I came across Simplicity Sofa through a random act of social media serendipity and was immediately drawn because of their tag line; Furniture that F.I.T.S. (Furniture for Tight Spaces). Custom built upholstered furniture designed for small spaces and tight places.  I knew right away that this would be the start of hours of perusing through their website to see what timbits of small space goodness they had to offer. Then I laid my eyes on their Megan Collection. A perfectly classic rolled armed beauty.  One of those pieces that has versatility written all over it.

I've never been one to swoon over a rolled arm but I couldn't help but appreciate Megan's elegance. She F.I.T.S in small spaces but also F.I.T.S into any style. I personally would pair Megan with a room filled with ethnic flare and let natural woods, fabrics and industrial pops marry with her allure.  I would accessorize her boldly and let her set soothe the tone.

OHHSIT! on Love this Valentine

Valentine's Day always gets me in the nostalgic mood with thoughts of the loved ones. I figure since the day is about love why not have a custom piece of furniture made to commemorate it?

This chair from OHHSIT! stopped me dead in my internet surfing tracks. The designer, Britten Goetz, made the chair for her daughter as a way to keep her connected with her grandmother and great-grand mother who recently passed away.

What can I say except this is an absolutely brilliant idea and such a great way to personalize furniture. This is one of those pieces that I'm sure will be passed down from generation to generation paying homage to her loved one for years to come. Check the other custom designs and her beautiful work of art on OHHSIT!

Peekaboo! Hideaway Bed

Have you ever notice how much space a bed takes up? I mean, that is a lot of square footage for a piece of furniture that you only use for 7-8 hrs our of your day! I don't know if my concerns are heightened after working on the 'Single Girl Bachelor Apartment' or if my gears are just always turning for the betterment of us Small Space Dwellers; but I wanted to let it be known that there are solutions out there for to access that oh-so-needed extra square footage during non-sleeping hours.

Introducing the Trundle Bed! Now trundle beds are not a new invention by any stretch of the imagination, but one may not be familiar with them if one is not looking. They allows you to tuck away the unused sleeping quarters when no in use. I for one love this space saving solution not only because they free up unused space, but there are also so many trundle options.

I am looking forward to when I will have a chance to use this in one of the spaces I am working on. Til then I give this space saving solution two thumbs up!

The Painted Bench

So, I'm about a week or so away from finishing my "Single Girl" bachelor apartment and I am really excited to introduce you to Ashely (the single girl) and her newly decorated bachelor apartment. I just need to tweak a few things and find a piece or two. One of the pieces I have been looking for was a bench for her desk, but couldn't find what I was looking for. So, I decided to pass along a piece that I had bought from a second hand shop about a year ago. When I bought it it was peach and brown and of course needed to be revived. I reupholstered the top with a fun black and white striped fabric, painted the base to match the striped fabric and added a hot pink colour on the inside.

To fit Ashley's place, I knew I had to change the piece to compliment her new colour scheme of purple and grey. Since I was unable to find fabric that I liked, I decided to paint the bench (and the fabric) to go with what I have already introduced into her space.  After three coats of paint, this bench is going to fit right in. Can't wait for you all to see her space!

My 'Not So Secret" Addiction - Midnight Madness

SO... I've finally realized it... I am an addict. It all started yesterday morning when I found this amazingly beautiful chair while perusing Craigslist for some goodies to wrap up my Single Girl Bachelor Project. When I saw her my body filled with that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you are in love and my heart began to beat faster. I knew I had to have her! After several messages with her lovely owner (well, previous owner), I found out that there were two!

All day they were running through my mind and I knew exactly what I wanted to do to bring some new life into them. After picking them up, heading to the fabric store to pick out the perfect fabric to cover the seats with, and a quick hardware store trip, I was all set. Only problem was... It was 7:00 pm and dark outside. How was I going to sand and paint?!?!

Now, when you have an addiction like mine, things seem logical that may not appear to be so if one was not thinking in the heat of passion. Like, "lets start a sanding project at 7:00 in the evening, in the middle of my living room". This is when I knew I had a problem... LOL!

In any case, I am thoroughly pleased with the outcome. After sanding, a light white wash and seat reupholstering these ladies are sexy as ever! These are the type of chairs that I know I will continue to have a love affair with and change every so often. Hope you enjoy them as much a I do!

(Boy am I going to be tired today... Need some green tea pronto!)

Have a great day Small Space Dwellers!

XOXO,

The Addict
